Service Description

"Translation is always a treason and… can at its best be only the reverse side of a brocade – all the threads are there, but not the subtlety of the color or design." – The Book of Tea, Kakuzo Okakura The Daodejing 【道德經】holds that once words are put to Dao, it has already been lost. So how they hell do we discuss and access Daoist teachings? In this seminar we will explore that question by breaking down some of its most central but commonly misunderstood characters and concepts to uncover and explore the foundations of its underlying view and practices. Through this seminar, participants will learn to work with a completely new lexicon by examining Daoist language as a means of understanding the Daoist view. In this way, we might have a directly accessible and personal experience of a completely different worldview, cosmology, and way of being in the world. Building an interpretive and demystified vernacular will allow participants greater confidence in approaching Daoist textual study as well as greater access to the themes expressed in them and encountered through practice. *It is highly recommended that those interested in any of these seminars take part in this first one as it will establish a basic ground and common vernacular used throughout the rest of the series. *After the conclusion of this seminar, participants will have the option to join a small online group of practitioners called the Cloud Gathering. Throughout the year, we will meet monthly to continue exploring and breaking down other central Daoist terms, characters, and concepts. Cloud Gatherings will be a sliding scale of $80-$150 USD. For more information about joining, please email me directly at wudangzihe@gmail.com.
